Working directly with the University of North Alabama's Public History Center (2023 - 2025) I am collaborating with various stakeholders in support of Project Threadways, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to documenting, studying, and interpreting history, community, and power through the lens of fashion and textiles. This project connects material culture, sustainability, and local craftsmanship, aiming to preserve cultural heritage while exploring the future of textiles in a rapidly changing world.
My contributions include:
Participating in oral history interviews and transcribing oral history audio recordings for the Project Threadways archive.
Assisting with research to expand the Fibershed database for the Southeast region, building a comprehensive catalog of regional fiber providers—from farms to finished goods.
Digitizing photography slides of North Alabama's Bend of the River region.
I had the opportunity to assist and present at the annual Project Threadways Symposium (2024-2025) hosted by Alabama Chanin, which brings together makers, and activists to engage in discussions about the past, present, and future of textiles.
